Information Security Part 1 & 2 - Protecting Your Valuable Information
Tutor: Edward Hodgson CPD Hours: Part 1 - 20 hours Part 2 - 16 hours Duration: 6 months for both courses
Course Cost: Part 1 - £1395 Part 2 - £1195
This course is intended to enable your firm to achieve compliance with the Law Society's guidelines on Information Security. It is not intended as an introduction to international standards such as ISO 27001, which are much larger in scope.
Information is an asset which has value to an organisation and needs to be suitably protected. It can be electronically stored, printed or written, transmitted by post or electronically. Information security is the preservation of:
Confidentiality – Ensuring that information is accessible only to those authorised to have access.
Integrity – Safeguarding the accuracy and completeness of information and processing methods.
Availability – Ensuring that authorised users have access to information and associated assets when required.
This course forms part of the series of courses on Operational Management and will help you to resolve these typical business problems:
- Maintaining client confidentiality, reducing the risks of data loss and data theft.
- Meeting statutory and regulatory obligations for confidentiality and data protection.
- Meeting client requirements for information security.
- Reducing the risks of IT failure.
This course on Information Security will enable you to review and improve your firm's working practices on line with the Law Society's 2008 Practice Note.
By the end of this course you will have:
- Reviewed your firm's Information Security position.
- Put in place suitable Information Security policies and practices.
- Made appropriate changes to IT systems.
- Identified certain risks that may not be cost effective or practical to remove and ensured that the firm's management have understood and accepted those risks.
- Ensured your firm is compliant with the Law Society's guidelines.
